Formats
Residencies
One to four weeks with universities, embassies, and cultural organizations, combining teaching, lectures, and performance across multiple sites.
Masterclasses and workshops
Riqq, darbuka, and frame drum technique, from a two-hour session to a weekend intensive. All levels, or advanced tracks for working musicians.
Schools, libraries, and communities
Performances and hands-on rhythm workshops for public audiences.
Wellness programs
Music therapy programs, therapeutic drum sessions, and drum journeys, built on April’s background in psychology and her work with refugee youth, safe houses, and dementia care programs. No experience needed.
Concerts
NEESAN as a full live band, or April in solo and small-ensemble settings on percussion and oud.
April Centrone
April Centrone is a percussionist, multi-instrumentalist, composer, and educator with more than 20 years of international touring and teaching. A specialist in riqq, darbuka, and frame drum, she has toured with Arab icons Ziad Rahbani and Marcel Khalife and with Saint Levant and Emel Mathlouthi, and has played Coachella, Carnegie Hall, and the United Nations. She leads the Arabic psych alt-rock project NEESAN and teaches worldwide through Arabic Percussion Mastery.
