Meet April Centrone, Founder of ACEarts.
Education & Music Therapy. Co-founder of the New York Arabic Orchestra in 2007, April has dedicated her career to teaching and sharing Arabic music. She has led workshops and performances around the world for youth and adults including Carnegie Hall World Explorers/Summer Music Educators Workshop (SMEW), Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Connect, Al-Kamandjati at Shatila refugee camp, and Paul Simon’s Music Fellowship. She created a specialized music therapy program incorporating Arabic music and healing practices, which she implemented in the U.S. Embassy of Malaysia Music Therapy Tour for Rohingya youth and young women in safe houses, and Lincoln Center Moments music therapy program for dementia patients.
Performance. April has toured with iconic Arab artists including legends Ziad Rahbani and Marcel Khalife and pop icons Emel Mathlouthi and Saint Levant. She has appeared in Coachella, Summerstage, Lincoln Center Out-Of-Doors, Celebrate! Brooklyn, Globalfest, Festival Musicas Do Mundo in Portugal, New Zealand World Music Festival, Festival Du Monde Arabe in Montreal, Marciac Jazz Festival in France, Taipei Silk Road Conference, and venues such as United Nations, Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall and NYC Opera House.
Composition & Recording. April was percussionist and production manager for Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed: Mirage video game soundtrack, which was nominated for the BAFTA Best Music for a Video Game award in April 2024, and composed and recorded oud on Disney+/National Geographic Documentary Attack of the Red Sea Sharks, among other film projects. She produces music for her Arabic psych alt-rock project, NEESAN, which also features her performance on multiple instruments including Arabic percussion, drumset, oud, saz, buzuq, violin and guitar.
Event & Film Producer. Founder/CEO of 10PRL, April produces various film projects, including narratives, commercials & promotional videos, music videos, and event coverage, and has produced events at the United Nations Assembly Hall among other venues.
